Ruskin Man Arrested for Battery in Gainesville

Edric Antonio Wordlaw, 21, was arrested on Sunday and charged with simple battery. 

Wordlaw had been staying with the victim and her mother in Gainesville while he visited from Ruskin, Hillsborough County.

The victim told police that Wordlaw thought she was cheating on him, leading to an argument. Wordlaw reportedly grabbed the victim’s face and she pulled his hair to get him off her. 

The victim was bleeding from her nose when she made contact with police. 

Wordlaw told police he took the victim’s phone because he thought she was cheating and pushed her in the face with his hand when she tried to get the phone back.  

Wordlaw’s bond is set at $25,000.
