State Drops Man's Child Cruelty Charge in Favor of Prosecuting for Battery

Lee Levelle Danzy, 52, was arrested on March 17 and charged with child cruelty.
The victim told police that Danzy punched her in the face multiple times, causing swelling and a bloody nose. The victim’s eyes were swollen when she made contact with police.
Danzy left the scene before officers arrived, but he was later found and arrested at a separate location.
On March 24 the State Attonrey's Office dropped Danzy's child curelty charge but filed a charge of battery with a prior battery conviction.
Danzy has an arraignment scheduled for April 15.
As of now, Danzy remains in the jail.
The Alachua County Jail told GnvInfo that Danzy will not have a bond set until he appears on his new charge.

In September 2024, Danzy was convicted of aggravated stalking.
