Electrical & Computer Engineering Professor / University of Florida Interim President Kent Fuchs gave notification of new crosswalks on University Avenue on Thursday.

Fuchs wore a cone costume in the video and introduced himself as “Coney, The Friendly Neighborhood Traffic Cone.”

The new sidewalks include upgraded lighting, adjusted stoplight times, signalized and raised crosswalks, and an increase in signs.

The University of Florida Instagram account liked several comments on the post that received heavy attention, and even some that were in the single digits of likes; however, the account didn’t like one of the most popular comments, which asked if Fuchs could remain UF President permanently.

Fuchs said when he took over that the UF Board of Trustees will likely select a new President sometime during 2025.
