University of Florida Student Arrested for Possessing Child Sexual Abuse Material
James Harold Major, 21, was arrested on Thursday and charged with 27 counts of possessing obscene materials and one count of using a two-way communication device to facilitate a felony.
A press release by the Gainesville Police Department (GPD) states the Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Division served a search warrant at Major’s residence after receiving a tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC).
GPD Detective Donna Montague found a Google Drive account on Major’s computer that stored child sexual abuse material.
Major reportedly gave conflicting statements and admitted to exchanging nude pictures with minors online.
Major’s LinkedIn says he is a student at the University of Florida (UF), a patient care assistant at UF Health and a member of Alpha Chi Sigma fraternity.
Major's bond is set at $2.8 million.
