Walmart Employee Arrested at Crossings at Santa Fe Apartments For False Imprisonment and Domestic Battery
Zion Motheus Ward, 21, was arrested Sunday afternoon and charged with false imprisonment and domestic battery.
Around noon, Alachua County Sheriff’s Office (ACSO) Deputy David Visconti responded to the Crossings at Santa Fe apartment complex in response to a call about a suspicious vehicle.
A security guard informed Visconti that he saw a woman screaming in a vehicle as the man driving stopped her from getting out.
While Ward drove to the rear of the apartment complex, the victim managed to escape and contact the police.
Ward admitted to touching the victim to prevent her from leaving the car. He said the vehicle “was at low speeds while driving through the gate” and didn’t want the victim to “make a scene.”
The security guard who witnessed the event wrote a sworn statement corroborating the victim’s accounts.
Ward wrote on his first appearance order that he works at Walmart.
Ward’s bond is set at $50,000.
