Henry Gomez, 25, has been sentenced to two months in prison, followed by six months of house arrest, followed by three and a half years of supervised probation after being found guilty of committing two counts of video voyeurism.
Gomez originally pleaded not guilty and faced up to ten years in prison; however, he entered into a plea deal with the Florida State Attorney’s Office for a reduced sentence.
According to the sworn complaint, on May 10, 2023, and again three days later, Gomez entered the Walmart (5700 NW 23rd ST), where he worked to supposedly buy glasses from the glasses store located there.
On both occasions, Gomez asked the employee if he could see frames for glasses, and while she was looking, he committed the violation by placing his phone camera in a position where it would record under the victim’s dress while he would bend down and pretend to tie his shoes.
Gomez would additionally sit at a desk across from the victim, putting his phone in his lap, and then on the floor to commit the crime. The woman became aware of this and told Walmart security staff, who provided law enforcement with video surveillance proving the violations committed by Gomez.
Gomez was arrested two months after the incidents on July 13, 2023. He was released shortly after his arrest and was free throughout his trial, being given a bond of $100,000.
Gomez will be released from prison on June 21, being given two days time served for his time in jail before being bailed out.
When Gomez is released off house arrest on December 21, his probation conditions will include, but are not limited to, not contacting the victim, not having contact with any Walmart in Alachua County, and being required to take a psychosexual evaluation.
